Biosocial Impact of Optimizing Maternal Outcomes

The purpose of our lab is to advance scientific knowledge as it relates to impact of social determinants of health (SDOH) and how it impacts from a clinical outcome perspective but also from a molecular perspective.  We also are interested in the impact of nutrition and vitamins such as vitamin D and how it contributes to improving birth outcomes such as preterm birth and preeclampsia.  Our goals it to use innovative approaches to elucidating the molecular impact of psychosocial factors and nutritional factors on the immune system that can provide some insight into potential interventions to address improved birth outcomes.
